May 12, (THEWILL) – Four Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) teams, Enyimba of Aba, Akwa United, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, and Heartland FC, faced disappointment as they crashed out of the Federations Cup in the round of 32.
Enyimba, a four-time winner, was defeated by Plateau United in a thrilling match that ended 2-2 in regulation time. Plateau United managed to come back from a two-goal deficit and eventually clinched victory through a 3-2 penalty shootout.
Similarly, Akwa United’s journey came to an end after a 1-1 draw in full-time against their opponents, resulting in a devastating 9-8 defeat on penalties.

At the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Shooting Stars and Warri Wolves, a Nigerian National League side, engaged in a fierce battle that ended in a goalless draw after regulation time. In a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, Warri Wolves emerged victorious with a 4-3 scoreline, securing their spot in the round of 16.
