November 24, (THEWILL) – Spanish singer and songwriter, Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler, has announced his retirement from music after a 30-year career.
The renowned singer, known for his chart-topping record ‘Hero,’ is gearing up for the release of his upcoming album, ‘Final (Vol. 2),’ marking his farewell to the music scene.
In a recent interview, the 48-year-old Spanish artist revealed: “It’s finished. It’s actually coming out in February. It’s completely finished. What I want to do is shoot one or two videos right before the second leg of the tour and launch it.”
Reflecting on his musical journey, he shared: “I’ve been working on this album for quite a bunch of years. And for me, it was always like I said, my final album… this is it. I don’t think — no. I know I won’t be doing any more albums.” The first single, “Asà Es La Vida,’ featuring Maria Beccera, was unveiled in October.
Boasting over 70 million records sold worldwide, Iglesias stands as one of the top-selling Latin music artists. With an impressive record of five Billboard Hot 100 top-five singles, including two number-ones, he holds a prominent position on the Greatest of All-Latin Artists charts as of October 2020.
Iglesias dominates the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts with the most number-one songs. Additionally, he reigns with 14 number-ones on Billboard’s Dance charts, a feat unsurpassed by any other male artist. Bestowed with the title “King of Latin Pop,” he was honoured by Billboard magazine in 2016 as the 14th most successful male dance club artist of all time.
Enrique exits the music industry with a staggering array of over 200 awards.
