December 08, (THEWILL) – After leaving Qatar, owing to a break-in at his home back in England, Raheem Sterling will re-join the Three Lions’ team, ahead of the 2022 World Cup quarterfinal match against France.

As THEWILL reported, the Chelsea winger left the camp on Sunday for what was later learnt to be a break-in at his Surrey house where a number of valuables were stolen. However, the 28-year-old is now expected to make his way back into the England lineup.

A statement from the English Football Association on the issue read: “The Chelsea forward temporarily left to attend to a family matter but is now expected to rejoin the squad in Al Wakrah on Friday (9 December) ahead of the quarter-final with France.”

Given that he has missed three crucial training sessions, it might imply that Sterling’s comeback is too late for him to have any chance of starting Saturday’s match against the reigning champions at the Al Bayt Stadium.

In 81 senior appearances for England, Sterling, who turned 28 on Thursday, has 20 goals to his credit. His only goal at the World Cup thus far came in the opening 6-2 victory over Iran.
