BEVERLY HILLS, February 13, (THEWILL) – Nigerian rapper, Falz, has kicked against the arrest of some #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters, saying that it showed that the government was not committed to getting justice for victims of #EndSARS protesters killed last year.

By the arrest of protesters today, Falz said, authorities had shown disinterest in dispensing justice to victims of last October’s incident where peaceful protesters were shot by soldiers.

THEWILL recalls that operatives of the Nigerian Army had opened fire on harmless protesters protesting against police brutality and extortion in the country on October 20, 2020.

The development sparked widespread reactions as many demanded justice for those killed during the incident.

Youths again regrouped today to protest the order to reopen the tollgate.

Security operatives, however, arrived at the scene and arrested several protesters.

Falz took to his social media account saying that the Nigerian government was unwilling to uphold the rule of law and sustain the country’s democracy.

“@mrmacaroni1 and a number of other innocent Nigerians have just been arrested at the Lekki Toll Gate for exercising their fundamental human right to protest,” he wrote.

“The Nigerian government has shown by this senseless act that it is not concerned with upholding our democracy or the rule of law.

“They are basically showing that they are not interested in serving justice as regards the 20th of October incident.

“This show of force is supposed to make us fear for our lives, but the life we dey live no kuku get meaning before.

“Absolutely nothing to lose at this point. They better be ready for the consequences of these actions.”
