July 30, (THEWILL) – Nigerian forward, Chidera Ejuke, has completed a one-year deal with Belgian league champions, Royal Antwerp, making the switch from CSKA Moscow.
The 25-year-old had spent the previous season on loan at Hertha Berlin, where he notched three assists in 20 league appearances. Unfortunately, Hertha Berlin suffered relegation to the German Bundesliga 2. Ejuke utilised an exception granted by FIFA for players active in Russia, allowing him to move to Belgium. The exception was offered to players seeking alternative futures following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
With a versatile attacking style, Ejuke brings valuable experience in European football, having played for clubs like Valerenga in Norway, Heenrenveen in the Netherlands, and Hertha Berlin in Germany.
Royal Antwerp took to their Twitter handle to officially announce Ejuke’s signing, welcoming him to the Bosuil. The club posted: “Nigerian Chidera Ejuke(25) signs a contract for one season with RAFC. Welcome to the Bosuil!” Ejuke’s journey in football has also seen him as a regular face in the Super Eagles’ camp since his debut in a friendly match against Tunisia in 2020.
