Eight Teachers Killed In Fresh Borno School Attack

SAN FRANCISCO, April 12, (THEWILL) – Boko Haram gunmen, again, struck in Borno State, Thursday, killing eight teachers at a yet-to-be identified school as they attacked Dikwa, Gwoza and Kalahgde villages.

Some residents of the town who fled to Maiduguri , the state capital, said the gunmen stormed the town in the night , forcing many to flee to safety in Maiduguri.

“We could not sleep at night as all we were hearing was gunshots and we became afraid and had to sneak in the dark for Maiduguri. Our fear was heightened by the fact that we held that they have attacked a boarding school and had killed eight teachers,” one of the fleeing residents said.

Aside Dikwa, another group was said to have laid siege to Gwoza and Kalahgde in the southern part of the state where they engaged the military in a shoot-out in an attempt to take control of the towns, resulting into heavy fatality.

The senator representing the area, Zannah Ahmed, confirmed the attack on the school at Dikwa, saying there was a siege on one of the schools in the town just after midnight on Friday.

The Senator said he got to know from his people in the area that Boko Haram attacked a school, killed three teachers and two security men on duty.

Ahmed, who is the senator representing Borno Central, said the night marauders also set the school library on fire before escaping into the night through the bushes.

No official confirmation of the attack was however forthcoming when filing this report as the spokespersons of the military and the police in the area did not respond to the telephone calls put to them .
