BEVERLY HILLS, February 24, (THEWILL) – Chief Uche Secondus, the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of graft.
THEWILL gathered that Secondus, who served as Acting National Chairman of the party was picked up by operatives in Abuja on Wednesday morning. He is still being held at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters.
EFCC sources said Secondus is being investigated and interrogated over at least 30 luxury cars he received from businessman, Mr. Jide Omokore, a close associate of former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Petroleum Resources Minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke.
The sources said the funds used to procure the vehicles were diverted from revenue from the sale of crude oil due to the federal government from the Strategic Alliance Agreements (SAAs) between Mr. Omokore’s Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC).
Omokore, who is also being investigated for various alleged unlawful financial dealings in crude oil, has been in EFCC custody for over a week.
