September 22, (THEWILL) – Ecobank is taking Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s share offer to investors across Africa, positioning its continental banking network to connect buyers outside Nigeria with an ownership stake in the Lagos-based business.

In an announcement published on September 22, the bank said it was facilitating participation by individual and institutional investors through its digital platforms and branches. Its network covers 33 African countries.

The development adds a distribution angle to an offer already underway. Dangote’s refinery can attract investors beyond the country where it operates, while Ecobank can serve as their route into the transaction.

The refinery is offering 4.1 billion shares at ₦525 each, potentially raising approximately ₦2.15 trillion if fully subscribed. Those figures describe the offer’s size, rather than subscriptions already received.

Ecobank’s involvement creates a practical connection between that fundraising and investors across its markets. For an individual outside Nigeria, a familiar banking channel could make an unfamiliar share offer easier to navigate.

However, operating in 33 countries does not establish that applications follow identical procedures in every market. The announcement does not specify overseas payment currencies, conversion charges or how foreign applicants will receive and subsequently sell their shares.

Those arrangements will influence how accessible the offer becomes beyond Nigeria.

In Nigeria, both customers and non-customers can subscribe through Ecobank’s mobile app, internet banking, website and branches. The offer opened on September 14 and is scheduled to close on October 13.

A minimum application of 10 shares represents ₦5,250 in share value. Investors should read the prospectus for the business risks, shareholder rights and offer conditions before subscribing.

Buying shares gives investors exposure to the refinery’s financial performance. Dividends depend on declarations, and the eventual selling price can rise or fall.

Ecobank has not disclosed subscription volumes through its channels. For now, its announcement establishes how it intends to reach investors. Completed applications and final allotments will show how much African capital that reach brings into the offer.
