March 11, (THEWILL) – In an early kick-off at Goodison Park, Everton recorded a crucial 1-0 victory over Brentford to move out of the relegation zone of the English Premier League.

Dwight McNeil’s sensational strike just 35 seconds into the game was enough to secure all three points for Sean Dyche’s side and end the visitors’ impressive 12-game unbeaten run.

The home side got off to a dream start with McNeil’s unstoppable shot into the top corner from the left edge of the box. Everton thought they had doubled their lead just before the break, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) correctly ruled out Demarai Gray’s goal for handling the ball.

Despite Brentford’s efforts to equalise, Everton held on for a crucial win that moved them two points clear of the relegation zone. They are now a point above Leicester and Bournemouth, in 16th and 17th places respectively.

For Brentford, the defeat means they miss the chance to close the gap to the European places, and they remain in ninth place. Their next game is against Southampton in midweek, while Everton will travel to Chelsea on Saturday, hoping to build on their vital victory.
