August 08, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur have officially welcomed a new addition to their squad with the signing of 22-year-old centre-back, Micky van de Ven, from Wolfsburg.

The Dutch talent has committed to a six-year contract under the leadership of manager Ange Postecoglou. Van de Ven’s arrival in London was marked by completing his medical assessment earlier this week, cementing his transfer to the North London club.

Van de Ven’s presence was notably obvious at Tottenham’s pre-season victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, where the team secured a commanding 5-1 win. Hailing from FC Volendam’s youth ranks, the defender embarked on a journey to Wolfsburg in 2021. His meteoric rise came to prominence during the 2022/2023 season, as he featured in 33 out of 34 league matches, contributing to Wolfsburg’s eighth-place finish in the German top division.

Tottenham’s proactive approach to shoring up their ranks extends beyond Van de Ven, as the club has made several noteworthy acquisitions. Notable transfers include the acquisition of James Maddison from Leicester in a £45 million deal, Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus for £25 million, and Manor Solomon on a free transfer from Shakhtar. Additionally, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has joined the Lilywhites following his £17 million move from Empoli, filling the void left by former captain Hugo Lloris, who announced his departure earlier in the summer.

While the club is actively strengthening its squad, the cloud of uncertainty still hovers over the future of star striker, Harry Kane, as Bayern Munich persists in their pursuit, having recently had an £86 million bid rejected by Tottenham.
