March 25, (THEWILL) – Ahead of Saturday’s national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned leaders of the party to desist from anything “that will jeopardise the chances of the party in the 2023 General Elections.”
Buhari’s remarks came just two weeks after he directed the APC stakeholders to stop name-calling, backstabbing and infighting over the party’s national convention, scheduled for Saturday, 26th March, 2022, at Eagle Square, Abuja.
The President, in a post on his Facebook page on Friday, reminded party chieftains of the limited time frame of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable.
He urged them to ensure a hitch-free convention capable of fostering unity in the party.
He noted that the guidelines released by the electoral umpire “does not permit us any room for delay or further squabbling.”
President Buhari, who is the leader of the party, charged party members to “consistently keep their eyes on the ball and refuse any distraction.
“The national convention of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is being held on March 26, 2022.
“We cannot afford to do anything that will jeopardise the chances of the party in the 2023 general elections.
“The limited time frame of the INEC timetable does not permit us any room for delay or further squabbling.
“We should all do our part to ensure the success of this convention. This will fortify us for the campaigns ahead of us”, the post on the President’s verified Facebook page read.
