May 31, (THEWILL) – Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawon, has recounted his humble beginning as an actor.
The talented movie act made this known in an interview with StoryTeller Media Global.
The actor stated that there was a time in his life when he was living on N100 per day and could only afford a proper meal.
He also revealed that he would take a pack of noodles and two biscuits as dinner before going to bed.
And he had to trek miles because he couldn’t afford to take a bus. If he had to take a bus, he wouldn’t be able to eat throughout the day. So most times, he opted to trek home.
“I went through some really dark times when I was very poor. I had nothing, I was hungry, I mean literally hungry.
“I couldn’t afford one proper meal a day. I remember where I used to eat, I will eat Amala, two wraps with no meat.
“I might be existing on a N100 per day then. I will walk from Shomolu to Surelere everyday because I can’t afford to take transport. If I take transport, I can’t eat.
“At night, I will buy 2 Biscow, two for N50, one indomie which was N40 at that time. That’s how I will go to bed.”
Over the years, the actor has stayed true to his craft and has been able to rise above his challenges.
