SAN FRANCISCO, October 22, (THEWILL) – Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that the policy of no work no pay will be applied during the on-going strike action by the Academic Staff of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

The Governor, who disclosed this Monday night at Abuja during the fund raising ceremony of 25 billion naira by the Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Foundation, said it has become necessary after several appeals to the lecturers to call off the strike yielded no result.

Besides, he explained that the no work no pay policy was adopted because the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Union (ASUU) had no bearing with lecturers in the state’s university.

However, he re-iterated his call on the striking lecturers to suspend the strike stressing: “Let me once again appeal to ASUU to listen to the appeals of the Federal Government and Nigerians in general, and resume work in the interest of the students and educational growth in the country”.

Dr Uduaghan affirmed his commitment to the development of education and pledged to support individuals and groups’ initiative in establishing tertiary institutions in the State.

He commended Chief Edwin Clark for establishing the Edwin Clark University of Technology in Kiagbodo, Delta State and the Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Centre for Youth Orientation and Development in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He donated 100 million naira to the Foundation for the university projects.
