Delta State Successfully Retain National Youths Games Crown With Sixth Win

October 20, (THEWILL) – Delta State has won the National Youth Games in Ilorin for the second year in a row.

Team Delta won the sixth edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) in Ilorin on Tuesday, highlighting their dominance of the event with 60 gold, 26 silver, and 28 bronze medals.

Since the first edition of the National Youth Games in Abuja in 2013, the team has won six times. The event, which has been dominated by Delta since its inception, concluded with a funfair and a colourful march-past.

With 19 gold, 25 silver, and 28 bronze medals, Team Lagos came in second, while Edo came in third with 18 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze medals.

Bayelsa was fourth with 16 gold, 14 silver, and 16 bronze medals, while Rivers finished in fifth place with 11 gold, eight silver, and 14 bronze medals.

Kwara improved their performance from last year’s 13th place finish to sixth place this year after winning 10 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze medals. And a haul of 10 gold, nine silver, and 17 bronze medals, gave FCT a seventh place finish.

While Ogun finished eighth in the final medals table, with eight gold, thirteen silver, and twenty-four bronze medals, Ondo State finished ninth with seven gold, seven silver, and 16 bronze medals.

In tenth place was Oyo State with six gold, six silver, and 19 bronze medals.
