De Zerbi To Depart Brighton After Final 2023/2024 EPL Game

May 18, (THEWILL)- Roberto De Zerbi will bid farewell to Brighton and Hove Albion after the club’s last English Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Sunday.

The 44-year-old Italian took charge of the Seagulls midway through the 2022/2023 season, guiding them to a historic sixth-place finish and their maiden Europa League campaign.

In a statement released by the club, De Zerbi expressed sadness at his imminent departure but emphasised pride in the achievements of his players and staff over the past two “historical seasons”. The former Shakhtar Donetsk boss highlighted the mutual agreement to part ways, allowing both parties to pursue their respective “ideas and visions”.

Brighton Chairman, Tony Bloom, paid tribute to De Zerbi’s “two excellent seasons of service” during which the club scaled new heights. Bloom assured fans that the Italian leaves on good terms and wished him well for the future while looking forward to providing De Zerbi with a fitting send-off at the Amex Stadium.

De Zerbi’s exit comes amid speculation linking him with high-profile managerial vacancies at Liverpool and Bayern Munich. The Reds have allegedly appointed Arne Slot, but Bayern are expected to be in the market for a new boss, with Thomas Tuchel confirming his impending departure.
