September 22, (THEWILL) – A 2-1 victory over Wales courtesy of another sensational display from Kevin De Bruyne, saw Belgium maintain their slim chances of making it to the Nations League Finals.

At the King Baudouin Stadium, De Bruyne scored the game’s first goal and set up Michy Batshuayi’s second to bring the Red Devils three points behind group leaders, Netherlands.

Wales got a goal back via Kieffer Moore and Gareth Bale was introduced later in the game, but the Dragons were unable to equalise and must now defeat Poland on Sunday, to stand a hope of staying in League A.

To advance to the Finals, the Red Devils—whose head coach, Roberto Martinez, was sent off from the sidelines for time-wasting—need a convincing victory over the Dutch on Sunday.

The Netherlands defeated Poland 2-0 in the other group match, keeping Belgium in second place and Wales in fourth. Robert Lewandowski and the Poles are third.
