Dasukigate: Dasuki’s SA Drags EFCC, Army To Court

BEVERLY HILLS, March 01, (THEWILL) – Former special assistant to Sambo Dasuki, Nicholas Ashinze, has filed a suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Army.

The suit, filed through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, is contesting the Army officer’s continued detention spanning 12 weeks without any charge.

Ashinze, a serving Army colonel, was first detained by the EFCC for eight weeks and released to the Army which subsequently detained him for another four weeks in a military facility.

It would be recalled that several human rights groups queried his continued detention and petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation, the EFCC and even the Nigerian Army.

Reports indicates that the counsel, who is well grounded in such cases, will be claiming severe damages on behalf of his client.
