Dangote Further Crashes Diesel Pump Price To N1,000 Per Litre

April 16, (THEWILL) – Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction of the price Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly called diesel, from N1,200 to N1,000 per litre.

THEWILL reports that the crash of the price of the product came after commencing the loading of diesel by road this week.

A statement issued on Tuesday, by its spokesperson, Nduka Chiejina, said the significant reduction in the price of diesel at Dangote Petroleum Refinery is expected to positively affect all the spheres of the economy and ultimately reduce the high inflation rate in the country.

It reads in part: “In an unprecedented move, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction of the price of diesel from N1,200 to N1,000/litre.

“While rolling out the products, the refinery supplied at a substantially reduced price of N1,200/litre three weeks ago, representing over 30 percent reduction from the previous market price of about N1,600/litre.

“This significant reduction in the price of diesel at Dangote Petroleum Refinery is expected to positively affect all the spheres of the economy and ultimately reduce the high inflation rate in the country.”

Former President, Muhammadu Buhari, in May 2023, commissioned the Dangote Refinery. The facility has the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
