November 3, (THEWILL) – Dangote Group is exploring opportunities to expand its industrial investments into Egypt as the conglomerate seeks to extend its manufacturing footprint beyond Nigeria and deepen its presence across African markets.
The proposed expansion emerged during a visit by an Egyptian delegation led by the country’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Saleh, to the Dangote Industries complex in Lagos.
The delegation, which included officials from Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and executives from its oil and petrochemical industry, held discussions with senior Dangote Group executives on potential investment partnerships, industrial collaboration and capacity expansion.
Areas of interest include refining, petrochemicals, fertiliser production and related manufacturing activities, sectors in which Dangote Group has developed substantial industrial operations in Nigeria.
The engagement comes as the group advances its Vision 2030 expansion agenda, with Egypt emerging as a potential destination for further investments.

Egypt Seeks Industrial Partnerships
Speaking during the visit, Saleh said the mission was intended to translate diplomatic and business engagements between Nigeria and Egypt into concrete investment opportunities.
He said Egypt was interested in understanding the industrial capabilities developed by Dangote Group, particularly in refining, petrochemicals and fertiliser production, to identify areas where businesses from both countries could work together.
The minister said the visit followed previous engagements involving Dangote Group at the Alamein Economic Conference and other international investment forums hosted by Egypt.
He added that stronger private-sector collaboration would be necessary to increase investment flows, expand industrial production and create economic opportunities in both countries.
Saleh described the group’s industrial operations as an opportunity for Egyptian businesses to explore partnerships and learn from Nigeria’s experience in developing large-scale manufacturing facilities.

President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, described the engagement as a reflection of the potential for African businesses to invest across national borders and accelerate industrial development.
He said the visit provided an opportunity to showcase the group’s industrial capacity while identifying areas of cooperation that could strengthen production capabilities in both countries.
According to Dangote, African companies must take a leading role in building industries across the continent rather than limiting their investments to their home markets.
The proposed Egyptian expansion would extend the group’s pan-African strategy, which has increasingly focused on developing industrial capacity in sectors such as energy, fertiliser and manufacturing.
However, the discussions have not yet resulted in a disclosed investment commitment. The group has not announced the proposed project locations, investment value, implementation timeline or specific Egyptian partners.
Any expansion into Egypt would therefore depend on the outcome of the ongoing engagements and the eventual terms of investment partnerships between the businesses involved.
