A statement by the party, signed by its state secretary, Fredrick Omari, confirmed the incident saying it has left the party broken, bruised and distressed.

He explained that from information available, the kidnappers are already demanding a humongous sum as ransom.

He condemned the incident, saying it’s a very criminal act, which is very devastating to the party and is a very serious concern to all.

He called on the Nigerian Police and all security agency to swing into action with unaccustomed alacrity.

The party also demanded that the Deputy Governorship candidate be released from the kidnappers den immediately to enable him proceed to his community to perform his civic duty on Saturday, March 18.

They equally called on all party members across the state to remain calm as they urge the general public to furnish the party, as well as security agencies with relevant information that can aid his prompt release.

The state police command has, however, failed to formally react to the incident and its Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, failed to answer calls placed on her line.
