December 21, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur have “all” of their COVID-19 cases recovered and ready for their Carabao Cup quarter-final against West Ham on Wednesday, but Ryan Sessegnon’s injury has delivered the team a setback.
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Spurs, with two Premier League games and one Europa Conference League match being postponed as a result of the epidemic.
However, Antonio Conte, the head coach, revealed on Tuesday that all of his players had now tested negative for the illness.
“About COVID situation, all the players — one player tomorrow — but all the players are available,” Conte said.
“They recovered from COVID and we have all the players now negative. It’s good news for us. But as you know well, for sure with COVID you bring this virus with you for a bit of time.
“For sure many players at the moment are not so fit because they have to face this situation. The good news is we have all the players available.”
Tottenham were allowed to play Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, but Conte acknowledged that winger Ryan Sessegnon was injured during the 2-2 draw.
During the game, the 21-year-old impressed for Spurs, keeping Mohamed Salah quiet while breaking forward on a regular basis.
“A little bad news that Ryan Sessegnon had a problem at the end of the game against Liverpool,” Conte said. “He’s the only player, with (Cristian) Romero, that is injured.”
Conte added that Sessegnon would be out for “10 days to two weeks”.
