December 16, (THEWILL) – Due to more COVID-19 outbreaks, four more English Premier League weekend fixtures have been postponed.
Southampton’s match against Brentford, Watford versus Crystal Palace, West Ham’s tie against Norwich, and Everton’s clash with Leicester have all been called off.
These postponements come after Manchester United’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion was postponed earlier this week, leaving only five games billed to stick to their initial schedule of matches in the EPL.
The Premier League issued a statement to account for the postponements that read: “The league understands fans will be disappointed these matches have had to be postponed and apologises for the inconvenience and disruption caused. All other fixtures due to be played this weekend are currently scheduled to proceed as planned.”
“The board has agreed to postpone the matches after assessing individual club requests this evening.”
As THEWILL reported, Leicester City’s clash with Tottenham was also postponed earlier on Thursday.
