BEVERLY HILLS, August 09, (THEWILL) – Nigeria has confirmed the successful evacuation of 87 Nigerians stranded in Sudan. The latest batch of evacuees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Air Sudan this weekend.
Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in their official Twitter handle @nidcom_gov, disclosed that this is part of the ongoing efforts to ensure that Nigerians stranded in different parts of the world are evacuated.
It said that “All Evacuees will proceed on a 14 days self-isolation as mandated by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control @NCDCgov, the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria, @Fmohnigeria and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on #COVID-19.”
More Nigerian nationals are said to be stranded in various countries, with majority linked to UK, US and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier last week, the Nigerian High Commission to the United Kingdom said the 7th batch of evacuation flights from Gatwick Airport, London to Abuja has been scheduled for August 15, 2020.
The statement disclosed that arrangements have been concluded with the Nigerian airline, Air Peace, for the next batch of repatriation flight for stranded Nigerian nationals in the United Kingdom.
