A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, presided over by Justice Lambo Akanbi has nullified the last local government elections conducted in Rivers State saying they ought not to have been conducted because of an existing court order, which asked that the elections should not hold.
Â
Â
Justice Akanbi said the previous Governor Rotimi Amaechi government disregarded the rule of law by conducting the elections and therefore annulled it.
Â
Elections into the 22 local government areas were conducted in May this year.
Â
Meanwhile, an IED exploded outside the court this morning but no one was injured.Â
