July 22, (THEWILL) – Operatives of Beninese security have commenced the interrogation of the embattled Yoruba secessionist agitator, Sunday Igboho.
THEWILL gathered that Igboho is expected to appear before the Cour d’Appel in Cotonou after the interrogation.
He was meant to be arraigned in court this Thursday but the hearing did not hold.
A judicial source confirmed to BBC Pidgin that Igboho and his wife, Ropo, are with operatives of Brigade criminelle in Cotonou, undergoing questioning since Wednesday.
His supporters had earlier converged at the court but later moved to the Brigade Criminelle facility where he is being held.
The court is expected to debate on the international arrest warrant issued against him.
If it is found to be in order, he’ll be extradited.
But if the warrant is defective from the legal or administrative angle, he’ll be referred before the Prosecutor.
THEWILL reports that Igboho and his wife were arrested at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, while on their way to Germany on Monday night.
He was declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS) earlier in July after a raid on his Ibadan house.
Two people were killed by the DSS in the late night raid while 13 others, were arrested and later paraded in Abuja.
