BEVERLY HILLS, April 21, (THEWILL) – The current Mrs. World, Caroline Jurie, has resigned her title a few weeks after she was enmeshed in a controversy at the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant.
THEWILL had earlier reported that Jurie removed the crown off the winner, Pushpika De Silva, at the local segment of Mrs. World in Sri Lanka at a Colombo theatre this month, saying that she was a divorcee and not eligible to participate in the international pageant slated for December.
Jurie was arrested and later released on bail in April after the incident.
Mrs. World Inc. has since confirmed her resignation on social media in a statement they issued to the press.
The statement read, “Her voluntary resignation decision was made solely by Caroline herself.”
THEWILL writes that Kate Schneider of Ireland, the runner-up in the 2020 contest that Jurie won, will now become the new Mrs. World 2020.
