July 23, (THEWILL) – Harry Kane’s public pursuit by Bayern Munich, according to Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte, is “a little disrespectful” and undermines the importance of the striker to his team’s future plans.
In recent weeks, reports of Bayern’s interest in Kane surfaced in Germany. However, manager, Julian Nagelsmann, recently acknowledged that while the striker would score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga, his team probably lacks the financial resources to make a competitive offer to Spurs.
When asked about Nagelsmann’s remarks after Kane scored twice in a 2-1 preseason victory over Rangers on Saturday, Conte said he had not heard them yet and could not help but express his displeasure at Bayern talking about his player in public.
He said: “Honestly I didn’t hear this. For sure I’m a coach who doesn’t talk about players from other teams. I don’t know why [this happened]. The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. Harry is a part of the project. He is a very important part of the project and yeah only rumours.
“At the same time, I repeat I don’t like to speak about players from another club. If I want to do something I go to speak to the club, not through the media. I think maybe it’s a bit disrespectful to the other club. This is my way. This is my way to face the situation with other players.”
