Comminique Issued At The Expanded Zonal Executive Committee Meeting Of The South-South PDP

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE EXPANDED ZONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) SOUTH-SOUTH HELD ON FRIDAY 23RD AUGUST, 2013 IN CALABAR CROSS RIVER STATE

SAN FRANCISCO, August 24, (THEWILL) – A crucial meeting of Expanded Zonal Executive Committee of PDP South-South Zone was held on Friday 23rd of August in Calabar, Cross River State.

The meeting was well attended. Present at the meeting were Representative of Mr. President, Chief Mike Ogiadhome, Chief of Staff to Mr. President; The Chairman of Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih; Governors of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States, Deputy Governors of Cross River and Bayelsa States, National Executive Committee Members, National Working Committee Members, Senate Majority Leader, Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, House of Representative Members, Speakers, Deputy Speakers, majority Leaders and Whips of State Houses of Assembly, PDP State Chairmen, Board of Trustees Members, Zonal Executive Committee Members and other stakeholders.

At the end of the crucial meeting, it was resolved as follows

I. That the Zone feels very concerned with the security situation in the Northern part of the country. That we hereby strongly appeal to all our brothers in the North to sheath their swords and embrace peace for the unity and progress of the country;

II. That we appreciate, support and commend Mr. President for his declaration and painstaking implementation of the State of Emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States, which has yielded the fruit of restoring peace in the affected States. We further commend Mr. President for being a true democrat by retaining the democratic institutions of governance in the states under Emergency Rule;

III. That the zone further resolved to wholesomely continue to support Mr. President with prayers in the onerous task of moving the country to greater heights;

IV. That we are proud of President Goodluck Jonathan for his achievements in the effective management of the country;

V. That the country has witnessed so much development with the successful implementation of the Transformation Agenda which has impacted much in the areas of human rights, rule of law, good governance, the power sector, infrastructural development and general improvements of the economy in all ramifications;

VI. That the Mid-Term Report as presented by Mr. President leaves no one in doubt as to the focus and effective nature of his administration. A feat unequalled in the annals of our political history;

VII. That we appeal to all Sons and Daughters of South-South origin to wholly support His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan because he truly represents the symbol of unity and strength of the South-South Region;

VIII. That the meeting noted with satisfaction the large turnout of stakeholders, which shows determination of the zone to continually speak with one voice.
