SAN FRANCISCO, November 16, (THEWILL) – On the 27th of December 2020, it will be two years since the demise of Rivers state Billionaire and oil magnate, High Chief O. B. Lulu Briggs, who passed away in December, 2018 at age 89. His demise has caused a major unending crisis between the deceased Children led by the eldest son, Dumo Lulu Briggs and his Wife, Chief (Mrs.) Seinye Lulu Briggs.

While he was alive, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a stylish and cosmopolitan debonair. He was a man who loved culture, especially his Kalabari Tradition. He never failed to invest in the welfare of his kids as he gave them the best education and supported them in their various endeavors. He silently prayed that when he transited to the after life, he wanted to get a befitting burial at his country home. Two years after his demise, the head honcho of Moni Pulo Limited’s silent prayer for a befitting burial is yet to be answered.

When the crisis started shortly after the death of the Rivers state born mogul in Ghana, not many thought it would take long to resolve. Some thought the family would unite and sheathe their swords to honour the late head of Oruwari Briggs House in Abonnema, Rivers state. Instead of peace, the issue degenerated after several litigations filed at courts in Ghana and Nigeria. At a point, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, alongside some other Kalabari respected chiefs, waded into the issue but all proved abortive as the ‘war’ took another dimension.

Dumo had previously alleged that; the circumstances surrounding the death of his father remains suspicious. He then approached a court to allow him carry out a comprehensive autopsy on the remains of his late father. Mrs Seinye also filed an application before the Supreme Court in Accra, Ghana but the apex court declined her application for an injunction to stop the Ghana Police and the Transition Funeral Home from releasing the remains of her husband to the family headed by Dumo. But in March 2020, the remains was released and flown back to Nigeria currently in the custody of Dumo Briggs. Many had thought since the remains of the late Chief has reached Nigerian shores, the family would announce his burial plans but that never happened. Chief Mrs Seinye recently cried out during a press conference, alleging Dumo of hiding the remains of their late husband from her.

“The genesis of the cold war between Dumo and his step-mum could be linked to the battle of who controls the soul of Moni Pulo Limited and the large estate owned by the late Kalabari High Chief. Only God can intervene on the matter. I am sure Chief would not be happy with the way his once peaceful family has suddenly been torn apart after his demise. We hope for divine intervention as both parties are not ready to embrace peace and grant their patriarch a befitting burial at his country home just like he wished,” a source added.
