July 01, (THEWILL) – Senegal forward, Nicolas Jackson, has completed a significant move to Chelsea, as confirmed by the English Premier League club on Friday.
The 22-year-old was a key player for Villarreal during the previous season, impressing with nine goals in the last eight matches and earning the prestigious La Liga Player of the Month accolade for May. Throughout the campaign, Jackson showcased his talent by netting 12 goals in 26 league appearances. Notably, he also made his debut for Senegal at the World Cup in Qatar, featuring for 16 minutes in the team’s 2-0 loss to the Netherlands.
Although Chelsea did not disclose financial specifics, British media reports suggest that the London club will pay €37 million to secure Jackson’s services. His arrival at Chelsea marks the second major signing in the forward position this month following Christopher Nkunku’s transfer from RB Leipzig. The addition of the talented striker is part of Chelsea’s efforts to revitalise their performance under the management of former Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino.
The club aims to bounce back from a disappointing 12th-place finish in the previous season, which represented their worst standing since 1994. With an eight-year contract, Jackson now has the opportunity to contribute significantly to Chelsea’s future campaigns and help the team regain their competitive edge.
