Celebrating Wenger: Essence Of Arsenal’s Statue In Honour Of Frenchman

July 28, (THEWILL) – Arsenal Football Club proudly unveiled a statue commemorating their former manager, Arsène Wenger, at Emirates Stadium on Friday.

The statue stands as a tribute to Wenger’s remarkable 22-year tenure, during which he led the club to three English Premier League titles, including an entire season unbeaten, and seven FA Cup wins. Wenger’s transformative vision for the game earned him recognition as the architect of the “modern Arsenal,” and his influence extended beyond the pitch with significant contributions to the design of the London Colney training centre and the club’s move to Emirates Stadium in 2006.

The bronze statue, crafted by award-winning sculptor, Jim Guy, depicts Wenger lifting the Premier League trophy, immortalising his legacy at the club. Tim Lewis, the Executive Vice Chair of Arsenal, was pleased with the recognition of Wenger’s outstanding leadership and contributions. As the most successful manager in the club’s history, Wenger’s impact revolutionised the club’s operations and left an indelible mark on its identity.

The statue serves as a lasting symbol of appreciation and respect for Wenger’s unwavering dedication to the club, treating supporters to numerous trophies and cherished memories. Current manager Mikel Arteta praised the tribute, acknowledging Wenger’s profound influence on his career and the privilege of playing under his guidance. Wenger himself will be the esteemed guest of honour at the forthcoming Emirates Cup match against AS Monaco, offering fans an opportunity to celebrate his incredible legacy.

Wenger’s statue joins five other statues adorning the podium at Emirates Stadium, honouring key figures in Arsenal’s illustrious history. Tony Adams, Dennis Bergkamp, Herbert Chapman, Ken Friar, and Thierry Henry are among the revered individuals celebrated for their significant contributions to the club. With Wenger’s statue now a prominent addition, Emirates Stadium becomes a living museum of Arsenal’s iconic individuals, allowing future generations to appreciate the club’s rich heritage and commemorate the extraordinary achievements of its former manager.
