Cameroon 1990 World Cup Captain Tataw Dies

BEVERLY HILLS, August 01, (THEWILL) – The captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the 1990 and 1994 FIFA World Cup tournament, Stephen Tataw, has died at the age of 57.

According to the country’s football federation, Fecafoot, the deceased defender died in Yaounde on Friday after a brief illness.

“Stephen Tataw died this morning in Yaounde following an illness,” Fecafoot wrote on Twitter.

THEWILL reports that Tataw captained the Cameroonians in the 1990 World Cup, where they made it to the last eight and also at the 1994 edition. Tataw played his club football at home as well as in Japan.
