BEVERLY HILLS, August 21, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended from office the Comptroller-General of Nigeria’s Immigration Service, Mr. David Parradang, over the visa issued to a wanted terrorist, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Assir, a Lebanese Sunni Muslim extremist and a radical cleric, who was arrested by security officials at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport on Saturday, August 15, 2015 as he attempted to depart that country for Nigeria via Cairo.
To make matters worse, the visa was issued on a fake Palestinian passport.
Paradang’s indefinite suspension was announced Friday in a statement signed by the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Interior, Mr. Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji, on behalf of the permanent secretary of the ministry.
The statement said the Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Martin Kure Abeshi, will run the agency going forward.
Abeshi is the most senior officer after Parradang, the statement added.
