SAN FRANCISCO, August 03, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari is in a closed door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The former President arrived the State House in black Range Rover SUV around 1:57pm Wednesday, after the President Buhari presided over a Federal Executive Council meeting.
Upon arrival, Babachir Lawal, Secretary to the government of the federation, received the former President.
THEWILL recalls that Jonathan recently met with Senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he urged them to be patriotic.
However, there are insinuations that the Buhari administration is luring the former President to get involved it the discussions and negotiation with the Niger Delta militants where Jonathan hails from.
Mr. Jonathan later told state house correspondents after the meeting which lasted about 20 minutes that all Niger Delta leaders must work together to enthrone peace in the region. He said he met with the President to brief him on his international engagements. He declined to comment on the ongoing corruption probe of the administration which has indicted dozens of aides that served under his government because the matters are in court.
