Buhari Approves N6.52b For Ranching In Katsina

July 17, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government on Thursday approved N6.52 billion for ranch development in Katsina State.

This was made known when President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the Zobe regional water supply scheme and a 50-kilometre road project constructed by the state government at the cost of over N3.2 billion.

The Federal Government and the Katsina State Government jointly financed and completed phases 1a and 11, as well as 1b, which involved laying of pipes to Karofi, Kafin-Soli, Kankia and Charanchi areas.

Buhari, who lamented the neglect of the water project by previous administrations, canvassed more partnership between states and the Federal Government to accelerate national infrastructure development.

The President said: “As you all know, the implementation of this important project that commenced in 1992 was neglected under past administrations due to lack of attention that resulted in poor funding and abandonment.

“It is, therefore, gratifying to know the positive effort the Federal Ministry of Water Resources made to salvage the project, which has led to its completion and commissioning today.

“I have also noticed the effective collaboration between the ministry and the Katsina State Government for execution of different components of the project as enshrined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) entered into in October, 2017 when the project was resuscitated.”

Commending the President for the development, Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari said the approval of the N6.25 billion will lead the way in setting up ranches in the state.

Governor Masari, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, appreciated President Buhari for consistently driving people-oriented development projects, with the release of N5 billion to the state to start the ranches.

“Mr President has graciously approved the sum of N6.25 billion for ranch development purposes in Katsina State. Part out of this amount, N5 billion is already in the account of the state government and within few weeks you will see advertisement calling for interested companies and consultants that will participate in construction” the Governor said.

Masari noted that the Federal Government had been focused in meeting the needs of the grassroots, explaining that the Zobe Regional Water Project was a partnership for completion with a target of providing more than 50 million litres of water to communities.

The Governor thanked the President for commissioning the Zobe Regional Water Project, and 50km Dutsinma-Tsaskiya road in Dutsin-ma Council.
