February 11, (THEWILL) – Brentford salvaged a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in a thrilling London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The result prevented Arsenal from going eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and extended Brentford’s unbeaten run to 10 top-flight games.
Leandro Trossard’s first goal for the Gunners put them in front in the second half, but Brentford’s star striker, Ivan Toney, levelled the score with a header in the 74th minute. The goal was Toney’s 15th of the season and needed to be reviewed by VAR. Toney also struck the crossbar in the first half and was a constant threat throughout the match.
The draw for Arsenal was their first back-to-back drop of points in the league this season and marked their third game without a win in all competitions. Despite the result, Arsenal remains six points clear of second-placed Manchester City, whom they face on Wednesday, in a crucial title clash.
Meanwhile, Brentford will host Crystal Palace in their next game.
