BREAKING: Kano Court Affirms Ganduje’s Suspension As APC Member

April 17, (THEWILL)- A Kano State High Court has affirmed the suspension of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ruling on an ex parte order filed before the court on Wednesday, Justice Usman Malam Na’Abba also restrained Ganduje from parading himself as a member of the APC, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The restraining order followed an ex parte application filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani Barguma, who are both members of the APC in Ganduje Ward.

Justice Na’Abba adjourned until April 30, hearing on the substantive case.

THEWILL reports that the APC National Chairman was suspended by members of his ward, the Ganduje Ward, in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday.

The suspension followed alleged corruption charges levelled against him by the Kano State Government.

While the APC had faulted the suspension, in a statement on Tuesday, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, described the act as criminal, saying Ganduje remained National Chairman.

Morka said that the Party has filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police requesting an expedited investigation of the matter.

He said the purported suspension was the devious act of a group of impersonators of Ward officials out to cause mischief and create confusion in the otherwise peaceful Ganduje Ward chapter of the APC.

“The perpetrators of this criminal act are not card-carrying members of APC in the Ward but are individuals affiliated with senior officials and representatives of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).

“This act procured by officials of the ruling NNPP in Kano is part of the despicable programme of political persecution launched by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf against Dr. Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State.

“The purported suspension is downright criminal, and of no effect whatsoever. The legitimate Executive Committee of the Ganduje Ward has since denounced the action and reaffirmed Dr. Ganduje as a bonafide member of the Party in the Ward, and in good standing,” Morka said on Tuesday.
