BEVERLY HILLS, July 24, (THEWILL) – Barely 24 hours after Kaduna City, Kaduna State was hit by two bombs, a bomb late Thursday afternoon targeted a busy Bus Station along New Road in the Sabon Gari district of Kano.
Kano State Police chief, Adenrele Shinaba, said the explosion which targeted an interstate commercial luxury bus killed a woman and left at least eight persons with severe wounds.
The victims have been transported to the Nasarawa Specialist Hospital, he said.
During a briefing with reporters, the state’s police chief said the bomb believed to be a timed device was hidden inside a refrigerator that blew up as it was being loaded into a Port Harcourt, Rivers State, bound big luxury bus from a truck.
“What we know is that the bus was getting ready to travel to Port Harcourt and they were in the process of loading a refrigerator from a truck when the bomb exploded. We are working with the premise that there was a primed bomb concealed inside the refrigerator,” the police chief added.
On March 18, 2013, a bus station in the same location was bombed by the Boko Haram. The twin explosion killed over 60 persons who were mostly southern Christians.
