BEVERLY HILLS, April 03, (THEWILL) – Yinka Odumakin, the National Publicity Secretary of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, is dead.

He died on Sunday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) after a long battle with illness.

He was said to have been battling underlying conditions such as diabetes before the COVID-19 attack.

His wife, Joe Okei-Odumakin, confirmed his death.

According to her, Yinka died in the early hours of Sunday at the Intensive Care Unit of LASUTH, Ikeja, where he had been on admission for several weeks.

Odumakin’s last public outing was in February when Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo (alias Sunday Igboho) held a meeting with Chief Ayo Adebanjo, at the Afenifere Leader’s Lagos residence.

On his way to the meeting, the Oodua Republic campaigner evaded a team of police and soldiers who had launched a fruitless attempt to arrest him along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway.

Sources said that Odumakin, who posed for photographs with Igboho and Adebanjo at the occasion, was admitted into hospital shortly afterwards.
