BREAKING: Abducted Students Of Zamfara Government Day School Regain Freedom

September 13, (THEWILL) – The kidnapped pupils of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, Zamfara state have regained their freedom.

The students, who were abducted on September 1, were received by Governor Bello Matawalle on Sunday.

It is not yet clear if any ransom was paid before the students were released.

THEWILL had reported that bandits abducted at least 75 pupils of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State on September 1, 2021. The bandits later returned five of the students within 24 hours.

Zamfara State Police spokesman, Mohammed Shehu, had said a large group of attackers stormed the school in the remote village of Kaya that Wednesday morning.

“The abduction followed the invasion of the school by large numbers of armed bandits,” he had stated.
