October 18, (THEWILL) – Neymar Jr., star striker for Brazil and Saudi Arabian club, Al-Hilal, has been dealt a devastating blow, as medical tests confirmed on Wednesday. The tests revealed Neymar has torn the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee.
The injury occurred during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Tuesday night, as THEWILL reported. Neymar was stretchered off in tears after sustaining the injury to his left knee in the match played in Montevideo.
Al-Hilal released a statement saying Neymar will undergo surgery followed by a rehabilitation programme to be determined later. The club stated their aim is for Neymar to “Return Stronger.”
This is a massive setback for both club and country. Neymar is Brazil’s talisman and was likely to be a key figure in their World Cup qualifying campaign towards the 2026 Mondial. For Al-Hilal, losing their new star striker for an extended period is a big blow to their hopes this season.
All eyes will now be on Neymar’s recovery and projected timeline for return. Both Brazil and Al-Hilal will be hoping their star man can bounce back strongly and be ready to shine again soon.
