Borussia Dortmund To Briefly Sideline Haller After Surgery On Tumour

July 27, (THEWILL) – Sebastian Kehl, the Sporting Director of Borussia Dortmund, has revealed that forward, Sebastien Haller, would be out “for a few months” after undergoing successful surgery to remove a testicular tumour.

Haller, who joined Dortmund from Ajax this summer, following an outstanding campaign in Amsterdam, received the news that he had testicular cancer last week after feeling unwell during a preseason workout and Kehl has now confirmed that the Ivory Coast international has successfully undergone a treatment to speed up his recuperation.

“The operation went very, very well and he is on the right track,” Kehl noted. “He was super stable and incredibly positive and also said to the team: ‘Do your job, give everything. Make sure that when I come back we’re still in the running.’ And the boys will do that too. He will definitely be out for a few months.”

It has been suggested that Dortmund may attempt to sign another striker this summer now that the former West Ham forward is out injured.

Erling Haaland, who finally moved to Manchester City last month, was directly replaced by Haller, but Dortmund still has Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi, the latter of whom arrived Dortmund from RB Salzburg this summer, available to play in the centre of their attack.
