BEVERLY HILLS, March 28, (THEWILL) – Voters in Enugu, the Enugu State capital, Saturday, said the early morning bomb explosion and subsequent detonation of explosive devices near a polling centre in the town would not stop them from voting.

“Bomb or no bomb, we are going to perform our civic duties here,” a prospective voter, Ikenna Ugwu, said at the WTC Primary School Enugu, a few metres to one of the major voting centres in the city.

An explosion had rocked the primary school early in the morning with the Police swinging into action to unravel the circumstances behind the explosion.

Newly-deployed State Police Commissioner, Dan Bature, confirmed the explosion, saying no life was lost and that the Police Bomb Disposal Unit was already detonating other bombs contained in the car.

“What I am confirming to you is that there is an abandoned Honda Accord ( KUJ 971LB) with Improvised Expolsive Devices. The bomb went off. What I am assuring you is no one was hurt.

“Whatever was the motive, we don’t know but every where is safe, election process is going on smoothly all over,” Bature said.
According to him, “We have provided adequate security for this election and I have assured voters that they should feel free to exercise their franchise. “

And just as voters were trooping in for the accreditation exercise, three other bombs were detonated by the police bomb experts.
