BEVERLY HILLS, January 15, (THEWILL) – The Governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has warned that the dispersal of the Boko Haram insurgents from Sambisa, in Borno state, also creates new dangers in other communities as the insurgents could join new communities and continue to perpetrate acts of terrorism.

Speaking at the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Kaduna, El-Rufai called on all citizens to be vigilante and report to community and law enforcement agents any suspicious person moving into their communities.

“It is our duty to help end the menace of insecurity,” he declared.

“The performance of the military has been commendable particularly beginning from the end of 2015, we are very happy and proud of our Armed Forces for their achievements.

“We have seen the decimation of boko haram, but at the same time, we have also seen emergence of new threats of banditry particularly in the North West and North Central of Nigeria and things would have been much worse but for the support we have received from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, the police and other security agencies.

“Security is the collective responsibility of all and if all citizen discharge their duties, ensuring that any strange persons that comes to their neighbourhood will be reported to the security agencies will lessen the burden of law enforcement on the police because the military only comes in when the police is over stretched to the point of incapability.”

“Government is committed to supporting the federal security agencies to raise the levels of peace and security in the state.

“We have spent large amounts of money to support them with logistics to ensure that the state is as safe as possible and that cannot be possible without the citizens, we all have a duty to secure the nation from the citizens to the community leaders to religious leaders to ensure that the insurgents do not infiltrate our communities.”
