Boko Haram: Wild Jubilations In Yola As Madagali Is Liberated

BEVERLY HILLS, February 27, (THEWILL) – Fleeing residents of Gulak in Madagali local government area of Adamawa State , Friday, currently in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Yola, threw caution to the winds as they embarked on wild jubilations at the news that their area that was seized by Boko Haram insurgents had been liberated.

Until Friday, Madagali was the only local government in the state still under the grip of Boko Haram as the other six earlier captured had been liberated by gallant Nigerian troops.

In the frenzy of the good news, some of the fleeing residents of Madagali local government stormed various drinking joints in Yola , singing and dancing in celebration of the freedom of their homelands from Boko Haram captivity.

Speaking on the new development, they expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for boosting the morale of the troops during his unscheduled visit to the state.

One of the fleeing residents, who craved anonymity, said : “We have be telling the president that to leave Abuja and come to Adamawa to support the troops.

“If he had done this since the war on Boko Haram started, by now we would have been freed of this scourge but it is better late than never at least the need for our votes has brought the best out of him.

On his part, Musa Aliyu, an indigene of Gulak, said the news of the liberation was something to be happy about.

“Now I can truly say our government is determined to wipe out the insurgents in the northeast and the country at large before the forthcoming general elections,” he said, “Because of the good news our people are jubilating and have already started contemplating returning to our ancestral homes to begin normal lives again.”
