BEVERLY HILLS, March 15, (THEWILL) – Indications emerged weekend that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) might be ready to play a major role in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Boko Haram-ravaged communities in the Northeast.
But the agency seems to be waiting for security clearance from the Nigerian Army before launching out in the areas.
Indications to this effect emerged on Saturday from the NEMA Northeast zonal coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Kanar, at the
distribution of relief materials at one of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Kana said the NEMA Director-General, Alhaji Sani Sidi, has approved a massive relief operation to bolster previous interventions in insurgency affected states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe following the recent routing of the insurgents.
He said as soon as the communities are declared safe by the military, NEMA would move in to resettle and rehabilitate the locals as well as reconstruct ravaged structures.
