BEVERLY HILLS, July 12, (THEWILL) – The concentration of the military in major towns in the Northeast with little or no protection for the rural areas has been blamed for the renewed Boko Haram attacks in the region.
The member, representing Hawul and Askira-Uba Federal Constituency of Borno State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jubrin Satumari, stated this weekend even as he maintained that most parts of the Northeast still remain susceptible to Boko Haram attacks.
Satumari who was reacting to the recent upsurge in suicide bombings and guerrilla warfare tactics by the insurgents, advised the military to change its tactics and step up its game in combating the insurgents.
Lamenting the state of helpless in many remote communities in Askira-Uba and Hawul federal constituency and other vulnerable areas where there is no military presence,the lawmaker said “there is no security presence in most of the affected villages and communities in my constituency.”
He deployed the gruesome killings in some communities in Askira – Uba and Hawul local government areas under his constituency where some suspected terrorists on Friday July 2, 2015 invaded Mussa ‘B’ village and killed 29 helpless residents and inflicted injuries on several others.
He lamented that despite the ongoing Ramadan fasting by muslim Ummah was suppose to be the period for prayers and supplication to God Almighty for forgiveness of mankind sins and the progress of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari, the terrorists have brought sadness and pains to many homes.
“I want to use this opportunity to condemn the renewed onslaught against innocent Nigerians by the Boko Haram sect especially during the holy month of Ramadan. I urge all Nigerians especially the religious faithful to pray to God to continue to save the country from all forms of calamity,” Satumari said.
While expressing the hope that the leadership of President. Buhari would bring an end to the Boko Haram insurgency, he maintained that “Boko Haram is not invincible and I have no doubt that the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari possesses the requisite political will and determination to decisively fight the insurgents and restore security to the affected areas.”
