BEVERLY HILLS, October 28, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the December deadline given to the Nigerian Army by President Muhammadu Buhari to rout the Boko Haram insurgents, the Nigerian Army Wednesday launched a pictures poster of the most wanted insurgents in the country, declaring 100 of them wanted.
At the centre of the poster is the picture of the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, whom the army claimed it had killed in an earlier encounter.
Calling on Nigerians to study the pictures of the wanted terrorists on the poster very well, asking them to smoke them out wherever they may be, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, who launched the posters as part of the Army’s counter-terrorism efforts, urged Nigerians to offer useful information that may lead to the arrest of the insurgents so that Nigerians can live in peace.
Buratai made the call in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, at the close of the Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR) 2015 Third Quarter Study Period, with theme: “Enhancing Information Management In Conflicts and Military Operations.”
Spokesman of Nigerian Army, Col. Sani Usman, who presented the poster to Buratai for the launch, noted that most of the faces on the poster are faces of known Boko Haram terrorist kingpins who are still at large.
Usman said “members of the public that have any credible information on any of these wanted terrorists should kindly call any of the phone numbers printed on the posters and the information given would be treated discreetly and professionally.”
Buratai, who also delivered a paper titled ‘Contemporary Warfare, War Reporting and Dilemma of Military Leadership’ at the event, said the presidential deadline of December was not to the military alone but to all Nigerians . He therefore urged every Nigerian to brace up to contribute his or her quota to ending the Boko Haram insurgency.
