BMNA: Organisers Laud Awardees, Appreciate Diri For Promoting Tourism, Entertainment

January 14, (THEWILL) – The 4th Edition of the prestigious Bayelsa Media Network Awards (BMNA), celebrated by all and sundry has been concluded, but the glitz of the event has continued to reverberate in all nooks and crannies of the state.

The recipients of the awards were elated, even as they expressed surprise at the independent monitoring of their works and their emergence as winners of the different categories of awards, which they did not solicit.

They have continued to appreciate the quality of job done amidst challenges that culminated in the mind-blowing success of the event, especially the flood menace that ravaged Bayelsa State some couple of months back.

Relishing the success, which isn’t without challenges, the Project Manager, Mr. Blessing Matthew Ozegbe, who sincerely expressed deep appreciation to all the awardees, who turned out in their numbers, said their esteemed presence contributed immensely to the success of the BMNA and thanked the Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, for creating an enabling environment for the entertainment industry to thrive in the state.

He seized the opportunity to solicit the support of awardees towards his vision to build the BMNA Event Centre to accommodate the envisage twice the size of the year guest (comprising awardees, families, friends and drivers of the public and private sector) at the 5th edition of BMNA 2023.

Accordingly, he noted that the number of guests at this year’s edition held at the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) was more than the hall could accommodate, stressing that it was expected and that informed his call for support to ensure the next edition holds at the BMNA House/galleria.

Ozegbe used the opportunity to enjoin all the awardees to continue to sustain the positive impact made in shaping society.

Speaking further, he said the BMNA doesn’t call for materials from recipients, rather the team would embark on an independent check and only those that meet their criteria would be sent nominations and the best would eventually emerge as the winner of the various categories of awards.

He urged those that narrowly missed the awards to intensify efforts in whatever venture they are into, geared to impact human lives and to make society a lot much better ahead of the 5th edition, as they might be successful to clinch the BMNA.

Ozegbe, once again, thanked the eventual winners of the various categories of awards which include Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, “Governor of the Year”; Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Diri, “Quintessential Symbol of Hope for the Girl Child, Women & the Elderly”; Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, “Quintessential Symbol of Humility, Integrity & Good Leadership”; HRM King (Dr) Biobelemoye Josiah, Ogbodo the VIII, Amanyanabo of Opu-Nembe Kingdom “Man of the Year”; Hon. Bernard Kenebai, “Best Lawmaker in Bayelsa State”; and Chief Lambert Ototo, “Administrator of the Year”, amongst others.

The highlight of the grand event was the presentation of bags of rice and ten thousand Naira (N10,000) to some widows by the Wife of the first military Governor of old Rivers State, HRM Josephine Diete Spiff, to improve their welfare.
