BEVERLY HILLS, December 10, (THEWILL) – Two female suicide bombers Wednesday evening (local time) detonated their vests inside a famous textile market in the Kantin Kwari district of Kano, northwestern Nigeria.
The two females died alongside four other persons, while at least seven persons with severe wounds are being treated at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.
The Kano State Police Commissioner, Mr. Aderele Shinaba, told correspondents after the Alarama Shopping Complex incident that the two bombers attracted attention when they entered the textile market under the pretext that they wanted to purchase fabrics but soon a heated argument ensued between them and a trader when they asked for water to use to a restroom located inside the market.
“When one of the suicide bombers realized that people were gathering and it could result to something else she quickly detonated her explosive and the other one also followed suit and four people were instantly killed together with them,” the Police Commissioner said.
The bombing of the market is coming barely three weeks after the Boko Haram bombed the main mosque in the city, killing over one hundred persons and wounding dozens.
THEWILL had previously reported based on initial reports from correspondents when the blasts occurred in Kano today that the explosion occurred at Motor Park popularly called Filling Parking, attached to the Kantin Kwari market.
